Dane Gussin has experienced success as financial advisor in the Detroit area for over 30 years. But he keeps his life is balanced by what he believes to be an equally significant endeavor - photography. “I think during the course of my life it’s not only important for me to give back. I also want to leave something behind that will stay with people after I’m gone… A photograph should tell a story that endures,” Dane’s penchant for honesty is evident in his countless photos: There are truths about history, about nature, and about humanity. Since the age of five, he has found himself fascinated with the ability to document the moments of life through his camera lens. And he often turns his lens on what he says are the less apparent, yet most poignant, life moments. Dane believes the essence of taking photos is “to capture a moment to share with other people.” He’s done that by employing his camera to document life moments ranging from a vineyard caretaker transforming grapes into wine, to the life-long wisdom shared in the eyes of nursing home residents and from the silent splendor of a vividly-painted building, to subtle emotions exhibited in the expressions of individuals he has encountered. Any idea is given the chance to be documented.
